JAMB has introduced new guidelines for 2017 UTME to stop student from cheating
This year, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has taken steps to curb examination malpractice.
– The adoption of CCTV cameras for all the CBT centres.
– The adoption of a single hall containing 250 functional desktop or laptop computer systems with extra 25 as backups. The computers must be minimum 15 inch screens and must be connected to robust computer server with capacity to carry a minimum of 250 systems concurrently.
– The adoption of cabled Local Area Network (LAN) and not wireless connectivity.
Tirelessly, candidates where strictly prohibited they use of electronic devices such as phones, wrist watches, bags were all banned from exam hall, pending on the registrar's effort to curb exam malpractice of 2017 UTME.
Speaking during a post UTME monitoring briefing on Sunday, May 14, the South--West zonal coordinator of JACE Ayokunle Adumashin said Saturday's examination was orderly and met set standards in all centres monitored.
On Wednesday 17th May, one of the candidate who sat for his UTME exams on Saturday 13th May uploaded he scores analysis, indicating that was caught cheating (malpractice) during conduct of first batch.
He added that perhaps this should had happened due to mounted security purpose cameras which were attached to wall at his UTME centre, following the released of 57,000 result by JAMB Closed-Circuit
Television (CCTV ) cameras indicated faces of candidates whose names later sort involved in exam malpractice, according to what we see, at least 100 marks are deducted in difference of his total score.
