A 6 month old baby girl was defiled & brutally injured by a 40-year-old deaf teacher in Potiskum, Yobe State. Outrage has now been sparked online after it was revealed the accused is out onbail.
The teacher, identified as Shaaibu Yakubu Abdullahi, by the Commandant of Nigeria Security and Defence Corps (NSCDC), Muhammad Gidado Fari, was arrested on September 1, by men of the NSCDC for allegedly raping thebaby .The NSCDC commandant revealed that the deaf teacher allegedly connived with his 10-year-old student, who carried the baby to him from her neighbour’s house and he defiled her, adding that although Abdullahi denied the allegation, he was identified bythe 10-year-old student in a group picture of staff and student taken in the school.
Yari said the suspected rapist was arrested after a non-governmental organization, National Council of Women Society (NCWS), reported the situation to the corps, added that the matter has been reported to the state’s Ministry of Justice for prosecution as the case needsa professional in sign language to interpret.The President of NCWS, Halima Kyari Joda, said the baby was taken to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital for examination and proper treatment.
