Defense spokesperson Rabe Abubakar says Army will soon launch Operation Accord for Fulani herdsmen

The Nigerian Army has launched an offensive against rampaging Fulani herdsmen across the country, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
The spokesperson for the Defence headquarters, Brigadier-General Rabe Abubakar disclosed on Friday, January 6 that the Army has concluded plans to launch “Operation Accord” to check illegalities of the herdsmen.

Abubakar made the disclosure to newsmen in Warri, Delta state during a media tour of some locations on Friday.

”Anytime from now, it will become operational and the issues of herdsmen going about innocent citizens will be a thing of the past,”
he said.
NAN also quoted Abubakar as saying that the Armed Forces had conducted more than 13 operations in the country.

“It becomes important to put those operations so as to have a comprehensive security sector to mitigate various security challenges we have been experiencing in the North- East which has just finished.
“We are mopping up the rescue operation through operation rescue final and other operations put in place by other services.”

On Boko Haram, the defence spokesman said the military was committed to rescuing all individuals held hostage by the insurgents.

“The rescue issue of all individuals that have been with the terrorists is ongoing.”

I am assuring Nigerians that the Armed forces and security agents will never leave any stone unturned unless we rescue all those that have been taken hostage by the Boko Haram.
“The Nigerian military and security agents are extending their hands of fellowship in a way of collaboration, synergising and seeking your cooperation and understanding.”

Just on Thursday, January 5, former minister of aviation Femxi Fani-Kayode released
very gory pictures which he claimed were from the killings in Southern Kaduna during the Christmas festivities in December 2016.
The pictures, mostly too graphic to be published, showed scores of people reportedly killed in gruesome fashion by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
